14 Park Crescent
This five storey building with one level basement included Grade II listed façade and listed 18th Century Georgian party walls.
To account for the intricacies of the façade, Swanton had the façade laser scanned to develop a 3D model to build our temporary works from.
Due to retaining the party walls, a façade retention scheme was developed whereby the party walls could also be used as support. As such lightweight box sections were used to construct trusses to represent the slab support at each level.
A frame was not needed for this design so the trusses were supported with gallows brackets in every other window. The trusses were supported laterally with RMD knee braces anchored into the party wall.
The party walls are supported by propping off the RC frame that is being retained with CHS flying shore props. In areas where there were shear walls with no RC beams, RMD walers were installed and fixed into the concrete elements.
