14 Park Crescent
14 Park Crescent comprises a five-storey building with a single basement level, featuring a Grade II listed facade and adjoining 18th-century Georgian party walls.
To account for the intricacies of the facade, Swanton had the facade laser scanned to develop a 3D model to inform the facade retention temporary works design.
Due to retaining the party walls, a facade retention scheme was developed whereby the party walls could also be used as support. Lightweight box sections were used to construct trusses to represent slab support at each level.
A frame was not required for this facade retention design, with trusses supported by gallows brackets at alternate windows and laterally restrained with RMD knee braces anchored into the party wall.
The party walls were propped from the retained RC frame using CHS flying shore props. In areas without RC beams, RMD walers were installed and fixed into the concrete elements.
